Five rushers attack from one side while a defensive end drops into a three-deep, three-under fire zone.

How it works
The defense exchanges traditional responsibilities: the nickel and linebacker pressure, the weak end drops, and the secondary rotates into three deep zones. The unusual distribution tries to produce a hurried throw into zone eyes.
Create overload pressure without surrendering all deep structure or relying on pure man coverage.
Some defenders who usually rush drop back, while defenders who usually cover rush. The swap can confuse blockers but still leaves zone coverage behind it.
Fire-zone spacing survives only if the seam defenders match vertical releases long enough for the deep thirds to gain leverage.
Call structure
The defense shows a conventional four-man front before exchanging the weak end for two second-level rushers.
